HOMELESS PROGRAMS
The Salvation Army offers emergency through transitional sheltering programs coupled with supportive services. These programs are as follows:
RECOVERY SERVICES
Helping the alcoholic or drug addicted individual is a major objective of the recovery/rehabilitation programs. These programs are as follows:
CORRECTIONS SERVICES
RECREATION
A range of recreational, residential and day camping experiences are offered to children, youth, and adults.
EDUCATION
After school tutoring programs: The Salvation Army offers after-school remedial and enrichment educational services to children and youth, as described below:
GED Instruction is available for those wishing to obtain their high school equivalency. Taught by a certified teacher through the Cleveland Public Schools.
Open access computer center – This program provides an open access computer center, coupled with instructional classes. Geared towards all ages and skill levels.
CHILD CARE/EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
The Hough Day Care provides licensed, quality day care for infants through pre-schoolers, located in the Hough area. An early childhood education program is offered in conjunction with the Early Learning Initiative.
SENIOR PROGRAMS
The West Park Senior Services & Nutrition Program provides a variety of services to help maintain seniors in their home and reduce isolation.
EMERGENCY FOOD PROGRAMS
The Salvation Army provides programs to address hunger in our community. Intake and assessment for this program will also provide referrals to other social services within Salvation Army programs and throughout the community.
EMERGENCY DIRECT ASSISTANCE
Provided through social workers or family service workers at the six Corps community locations, direct assistance is provided to needy individuals and families with documented need in the following areas: limited prescription assistance, special needs food vouchers, clothing, furnishings, and utility assistance for crisis intervention.
CUYAHOGA COUNTY SERVICE UNITS
A Service Unit is a volunteer committee that is organized to represent The Salvation Army in communities where a Center for Worship and Service is not located. Located in Bedford, Berea, Brecksville, North Royalton, Solon/Chagrin Falls, and Strongsville, emergency and temporary human services are provided to individuals and families in need.
